    Application of linear displacement sensor in closed loop control of automatic riveting machine


    Automatic riveting machine is a kind of automatic processing equipment which uses stamping equipment and special connecting Abrasives through an instantaneous high pressure, according to the cold extrusion deformation of plate material, forming an automatic processing equipment with certain tensile and shear strength without stress concentration and internal inlaid dots. It is commonly used in garment, leather processing, home appliances, automobile, electronics, aviation and other industries. Automatic riveting machine can connect two or more kinds of plates with different thickness and different materials. It is a new equipment and technology which can gradually replace the traditional connection technology. The linear displacement sensor is used in the closed-loop control of the automatic riveting machine and the riveting height adjusting system of the riveting machine, which improves the control accuracy and processing accuracy of the equipment.

    The full-automatic riveting machine mainly realizes displacement control through air source pressure or hydraulic pressure regulation, and then accurately measures displacement, pressure, speed and other parameters through high-precision displacement sensor, pressure sensor, rotary encoder and other measurement and control components, and forms a closed-loop control system with PLC control system, so as to achieve the effect of full-scale CNC precise control. If the preset parameters are exceeded in the working process, the control system will send out sound and light alarm to prevent the defective products from flowing into the next process and improve the processing accuracy and product quality.

    The linear displacement sensor is connected with the base and frame of the automatic riveting power head, and the front section of the measuring rod is connected with the rivet head through the connector. The sensor converts the displacement into standard analog voltage signal or current signal, and the PLC control system processes the sensor signal to obtain the real-time measurement value of rivet head displacement. Taking pneumatic riveting machine as an example, the equipment lowering solenoid valve is energized, and the upper chamber of the cylinder in the power head is connected with compressed air to drive the piston and rivet head to move downward. When PLC system detects that the actual value of rivet head displacement reaches the set value, the lowering solenoid valve is powered off, and the compressed air is disconnected from the upper chamber of the cylinder. After the equipment completes the riveting process, the rising solenoid valve is energized, the lower chamber of the cylinder is connected with compressed air, and the piston and rivet head are driven to move upward. In this way, a riveting cycle is completed and the automatic control of riveting size is realized. In practical application, there is a certain reaction time from the signal detected by the displacement sensor to the command given by the control system. It is inevitable for the full-automatic riveting machine with compressed air or hydraulic pressure as the power source. How to reduce overshoot and make each overshoot consistent is a key issue for designers.
